We published our scientific article describing the details of the project in the March issue of Turkish magazines "Enerji ve Çevre" and "Synergy" magazines. Our interview related to our project was published in the April issue of the “Anadolu Aktüel” magazine. We did this with the goal of reaching a wider audience in Turkey the goal of raising more awareness.

Presentations to Middle Schoolers


Middle and 4th-grade students came to our high school building and examined the panels to gain an understanding of how solar panels are used in the real world.
The workings of the solar panels were explained and also a presentation was conducted explaining the opportunities and obstacles of solar panels through actively taking part in discussions.
This was so that they can interiorize the subject and have a more memorable learning experience. We also distributed brochures with the information on the presentation.     They gave us positive feedback and were very impressed.

Radio Interviews
 

Radio Interviews

We continued our efforts of reaching a wider audience and we performed on Radio METU's "ÖÄŸleden Sonra KuÅŸağı" on March 18 and Radio TRT’s (Turkish Radio and Television Association) “Ailece” program on 12 April 2022. We talked about our project in general and how we were accomplishing our goals. In addition, in the second interview on TRT we also talked about how this has changed us as members of the project.

In order to create awareness among other schools, we decided that we could create a video presentation that could be easily shared with other schools. In this way, if a school wanted to contribute and spread awareness among their students, the only thing we had to do was to send the video to them and they could watch it. For this video, we decided to use the presentation that we have previously used to create awareness among our school since this presentation gave overall information about renewable energy, fossil fuels, obstacles and opportunities of solar panels, and how they work. 

   

 One of our members Ömer Can Baykara was the one who created the presentation so he was the one who knew the presentation best. That is why we thought it would be best if he did the presentation so we created a video where he presented our project and the PowerPoint and shared it with the school who wanted to contribute to our project.



 

ATO Climate Fair

ATO Climate Change Fair
 

ECO CLIMATE Economy and Climate Change Summit and Fair”, held on 30 – 31 March 2022 with the aim of #greenmovement in the context of combating climate change and its effects on the economy, was held at the ATO Congresium with the participation of 50.000 people.

We set up a stand and presented the project together with results from our questionnaires. We kept the presentations interesting, short and informative and helped many interested people realize the true potential of solar panels and the problems. The presentations we performed in the green hall were appreciated by businesspeople from different sectors in renewable energy, participants, and students as we increased our project reach, creating even more awareness.

We also got the contact numbers of a lot of students from a lot of different schools which allowed us to be able to send the video presentations to their schools.On the first day of the fair, we attended to mayor Mansur YavaÅŸ’s speech on renewable energy and its specific applications in Ankara and some in Turkey. It was an effective fair for us where we increased awareness and. 

 

The students and teachers of GSŠRM organized and carried out an eco day on April 1. Every grade covered a different topic. The presentation on the opportunities and obstacles of solar energy made by Bilkent High School was presented to the school over zoom in an interactive way.
The aim was to raise awareness in the international context together.

Bilkent Earth Day

Bilkent Earth Day Presentations

On April 22, we celebrated International Earth Day, by organizing various events to draw attention to issues such as climate change and environmental pollution. At our school, we exchanged ideas with high school students about the question “What we can do for a cleaner future?”  Projects developed in this direction included letter and petition writing campaigns as well as energy-saving calculations.
We performed our presentations to every class in Bilkent Highschool on this day. It was in a different format that was faster and only covered the key facts on the potential of solar panels, what we had done for the project so far and how the solar panels worked. By using a shorter format we utilized our limited time as well making the presentation more sutiable towards the knowledge level of highschoolers. 
 

In the end, we also presented to representatives from Halk Enerji and Ersis Enerji whom both supported us throughout the process of the project as well as our school's principal and coordinator.
