Getting The Solar Panels
At Bilkent, we installed the solar panels in the school garden with the help of Bilkent Yapışleri and Ersis Energy Company. In our research, we realized that an on-grid connection was much more profitable, but due to time restraints, we used an off-grid connection. Then, we examined our school’s electricity bill and calculated how the solar panels would be beneficial while reducing our carbon footprint. Even though the panels were connected to a small number of lights in the corridor, it had an impact on the school bill. As for the project group, we’re glad that the panels worked and had a positive impact on reducing our carbon footprint. We reached our goal, and in the coming years, we might plan on-grid connections to light the whole school with solar panels.
